News for May 2018

Welcome to Pedaltours 'Dispatch' a brief newsletter we will send on occasion to keep our Pedaltours customers up to speed with our activities.

Welcome to our May 2018 Dispatch! We are excited to bring you our latest Feature tour: Vietnam Explorer. We also have new brochures for the upcoming season and introduce you to Matthew McIntyre, one of our Tour Coordinators.

Feature tour: Vietnam Explorer

Our 16 day Vietnam Explorer tour takes you from the northern capital Hanoi to the south where you finish in cosmopolitan Ho Chi Minh City. Explore this captivating country as you cycle on back roads through rice paddy fields, sugar cane, dragon fruit, and coffee plantations. Enjoy daily engagement with friendly hospitable locals.

From imperial cities to beachside resorts, your tour covers a diverse range of sights along the way. You will get the opportunity to explore three UNESCO World Heritage listed sites (all within easy reach of your hotel). Experience centuries of Vietnamese history at The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi, the Imperial City in Hué and during your rest day in the world heritage town of Hoi An. Also visit summer palaces, a silk embroidery village, the “Crazy House”, with its weird architecture and the long houses of the local Edeh and M’Nong people.

Along the coast, experience fishing villages, salt making flats, and enjoy long stretches of beautiful beaches. The ocean is dotted with islands and at Nha Trang lunch is on one of these islands. Did you know that Vietnam is second only to Brazil for its coffee exports? You can savor a well earnt local coffee in Buon Ma Thuot, known as the coffee capital of Vietnam.

As always, you will have excellent local guides who know the country best. You will also have support vehicle which means you can cycle as little or as much as you wish.

The bike ride through Vietnam remains one of the best trips of my life. It was challenging but very rewarding. Our tour guides were great and the accommodations were amazing.
I will be riding with them again soon”. Sally

Matthew McIntyre – Tour Coordinator

I joined Pedaltours as I am a passionate cyclist and traveller. I have ridden and raced on road, track and mountain bikes. My main cycling passion is road racing and have taken trips to watch the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia. I love the growing craft beer culture around the world. There are some amazing breweries in New Zealand now. So if you need some tips about where to sample some great beer, wine or food please let me know. I am from New Zealand but met my South African wife while living in England. Our boys are now 11 and 9 and are both passionate travellers and sportsmen. I have travelled extensively and I am here to use that experience to help you have an amazing time exploring the world on one (or more) of our tours.
